MICROSOFT · FLUENT UI ANDROID

My work on
Fluent UI Android.

I built reusable Android components at Microsoft and worked on accessibility, UI testing, and releases for the Fluent library.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

What is Fluent?

Fluent is Microsoft’s design system. It gives teams shared components and patterns for building interfaces across products such as Word, Outlook, and Teams.

Fluent UI Android brings that language to mobile through reusable native components, working alongside Android’s Material controls.

DESIGN, MADE TANGIBLE

Try a few components.

My work spanned cards, lists, people selection, progress indicators, dialogs, and more. Explore a few of those patterns below.

Bring the right people together

Who’s joining the project?

01 / PEOPLE & SELECTION

People selection

I built PersonaChip and PeoplePicker, including selection, validation, and customization for different products.

PROJECT BRIEF

A little more clarity.

Everything you need for the next step.

02 / CARDS & CONTENT

Cards

I implemented basic, file, and announcement cards with reusable layouts and styling tokens.

A little feedback goes a long way.

Your workspace is ready.

03 / PROGRESS & SHIMMER

Loading states

I built progress indicators, Shimmer, and ProgressText, and fixed rendering issues in loading states.

Make room for everyone.
YOUR NEXT STEP

Good design adapts to you.

Readable content. Room to grow. A clear action.

Try the larger-text setting.

04 / ACCESSIBLE INTERACTIONS

Accessibility

I fixed clipped text at larger font sizes, improved TalkBack announcements, and corrected how read-only fields were described to screen readers.

These web demos recreate patterns I worked on, using Fluent 2 styling. They are not screenshots of Microsoft products.

WHAT MY WORK MADE POSSIBLE

What changed
through my work.

01

Reusable components

I gave teams components they could configure and reuse, with examples to help them integrate the library.

02

More usable controls

My fixes improved large-text layouts, screen-reader feedback, and right-to-left behavior in shared controls.

03

Testing & releases

I integrated Hydra Lab UI testing, added regression coverage, and automated parts of localization and releases.

40%

less manual testing effort

Less manual testing

I reduced manual testing effort by 40% through automated UI tests.

MY APPROACH

Why I liked
this work.

I enjoyed working on both the components and the tooling that helped other engineers use them.

A fix in a shared library can help several teams at once. That made accessibility and testing especially rewarding.

ILLUSTRATIVE CARD & DIALOG

A clearer next step.

This demo combines a file-style card with a dialog: familiar patterns for previewing content without losing your place.

My Fluent Android work included configurable cards and dialogs, backed by design tokens and demo examples.
